If a client came to me with the budget open and no fixed idea, I would put them on the 860. It is the point in the Ferretti range where the boat stops being a big flybridge and starts being a small ship — 88'5" on a 20'5" beam, four guest cabins, two crew, and 31.5 knots if you take the MAN V12 2000s. Below it the 800 is arguably the smarter buy and above it the 940 is the better boat, but the 860 is the one people actually use hardest.
The number I would look at before length is crew berths, because it decides what owning the boat feels like. The 720 carries one crew cabin. The 800 carries three. The 860 and 940 carry two, and the 1000 carries three. That is not a straight line, and it means the 800 — nominally the smaller boat — supports a fuller crew operation than the 860 above it. If you intend to run with a captain and a stew and have them live aboard, that single spec reorders the whole range.
The honest trade-off across this brand is speed against everything else. The flybridge boats plane at 28-32 knots and burn accordingly; the INFYNITOs top out at 22 and are built to sit still and be lived on. Ferretti sells both stories in the same showroom, and buyers routinely shop them against each other when they are really answering two different questions. Decide first whether you are buying passage-making speed or time at anchor. The rest of the choice gets easy after that.

The 500 is the smallest Ferretti flybridge — 50'4" of Italian design you can run yourself, with a 30-knot top end and a choice of two or three guest cabins.
The 580 puts a full-beam owner's suite and a real flybridge into just under 60 feet, with 32 knots available on the uprated Volvo Penta D13s.
The 670 is the flybridge that finally makes a beach club work at 66 feet — full-beam owner's suite, three or four cabins, and 32 knots on the MAN V8 1200s.
The 720 is the newest mid-size Ferretti flybridge — four guest cabins in 74 feet, two interior moods, and 32 knots with the optional MAN V12 1400s.
The current 800 is the flybridge that gives you three crew berths without giving up the owner-driver feel — 80'3", four guest cabins, 31 knots on the V12 1800s.
At 88'5" the 860 is where a Ferretti flybridge starts feeling like a private estate — four guest cabins, two crew, and 31.5 knots on the MAN V12 2000s.
The 940 moves the owner's suite onto the main deck — 95 feet of widebody Ferretti with five guest cabins, two crew, and 27 knots on the V12X 2200s.
The 1000 is the Ferretti flagship flybridge — 98'10" with five guest cabins, three crew, and 28 knots from the optional MTU 16V 2000 M96Ls.
The Skydeck trades the 1000's open flybridge for a glazed, climate-controlled upper lounge — same 98'10" hull, same five cabins, a season you can actually use.
The Infynito 80 covers its terraces so you can use them in any weather — 77'9", four guest cabins, and All-Season living rather than an open flybridge.
A 24-foot beam and 3,302 gallons of fuel make the Infynito 90 the long-range Ferretti — four guest cabins, two crew, and a beach club you'll actually live on.

How long has Ferretti been building yachts?
Since 1968, when brothers Alessandro and Norberto Ferretti began selling boats alongside their father's car business in Bologna. They launched their first self-built boat in 1971 at Cattolica, moved fully into boatbuilding in 1975 with a shipyard at San Giovanni in Marignano, and produced their first motor-only yacht in 1982. Forlì became headquarters in 1987.
That continuity is the practical argument for the brand: parts, service and engineering support for a boat you will own for a decade.
How many crew do you need for a Ferretti Yacht?
It depends on the model, and Ferretti's published crew accommodation is your practical floor. The 500 is genuinely owner-operable. The 720 has one crew berth, the 860, 940 and both INFYNITOs have two, and the 800, 1000 and 1000 Skydeck have three.
Crew is the largest single line in an annual operating budget once you pass 70 feet, so read those numbers as a running cost rather than a spec. And note the inversion: the 800 sleeps more crew than the larger 860.
What sizes does Ferretti Yachts build?
Ferretti Yachts currently builds eleven models from 50'4" to 98'10", split across two lines: nine flybridge motoryachts in the Flybridge range and two all-season cruisers in the INFYNITO line.
Above that you move to other marques in the same group — Riva, Pershing, Custom Line, Wally, Itama, Mochi Craft and CRN — which carry the range well past 200 feet.
Who designs Ferretti Yachts?
Filippo Salvetti draws the exteriors across the Flybridge range, and the Italian studio IDEAEITALIA does the interiors — offered as two moods, Classic in soft harmonic tones and Contemporary in cooler tones with stronger colour.
That choice runs across nearly the whole range rather than being model-specific. See both in person if you can: photography tends to flatter the Contemporary scheme, while the Classic usually wears better over years of ownership.
Is Ferretti the right choice against Azimut or Princess?
It depends on which part of the boat you weight most. Ferretti's flybridge hulls are quick for their displacement — 32 knots on the 580, 670 and 720, and 31.5 on the 860 — and the yard offers a genuine standard-versus-optional engine choice on nearly every model.
Our view: shop the crew and cabin counts before the styling, because those decide what owning the boat feels like day to day. If you want an all-season covered terrace rather than an open flybridge, no direct competitor answers it the way the INFYNITO line does.
