The Motopanfilo 37M is the rare boat where the styling decision and the engineering decision point the same way. Benetti drew a classic profile - a bronze ribbon along the sheer where a mahogany cap rail would have been, structural ribs left to read, a transom integrated into the shell - and then built it in GRP with carbon fiber, which is what holds 121 feet to 230 tons at full load. The number that comes out the other end is a 6-foot-5-inch draft, and that is the figure I would buy this boat on.
Range and draft do different jobs, and it is worth separating them. Benetti publishes 3,800 nautical miles at 10 knots, and ten knots is the speed the yard states it at, so plan around that rather than around anything faster. Range gets you across. Draft decides where you stop, and at 6'5" a 121-foot yacht gets into anchorages a deeper boat has to look at and pass by. The Motopanfilo 37M measures 121'1" overall on a 25'7" beam and a 6'5" draft, displacing 230 tons at full load. The hull is GRP with carbon fiber, drawn by Pierluigi Ausonio with the exterior concept by Francesco Struglia and Benetti.

The Motopanfilo 45M is the same idea in steel at 146 feet with an extra crew cabin; the Oasis 34M is the move if outdoor deck area matters more than the shape of the boat.
