Sunreef 70 Sail NEXT ( Eco-Option )

The Sunreef 70 Sail NEXT sits in the middle of the sailing range and is the smallest of them with genuine long-passage tankage. Sunreef publishes 21.64 m (71 ft) overall on a 10.85 m (35 ft 7 in) beam, CE design category A, and 287 m² of living space.

The rig is a 160 m² mainsail with a 120 m² genoa — the largest sail plan in the range short of the 80 and 100. Water capacity is 1,600 l, double the 50 and 60. Fuel is specified as a single tank between 2,000 l and 4,000 l.

Sunreef's range page lists the boat as the "Sunreef 70 NEXT", carrying the yard's current superstructure and saloon design.

The propulsion is documented. Classic builds carry 2 × 175 hp to 2 × 225 hp diesels. Eco builds replace them with electric motors and a lithium bank charged three ways: shore or generator, Sunreef's in-house composite-integrated solar panels, and hydrogeneration from the propellers while the boat is sailing. On a rig this size hydrogeneration is not a token system — the 160 m² mainsail is what makes it work.

Draft is not published. Ask for the figure before you commit to a shallow cruising ground.

Two hundred and eighty-seven square metres across two hulls, a full-beam saloon and the cockpit. The 70 is the size where Sunreef's bespoke model stops being a nice idea and starts being the reason to buy — there is enough volume to make genuinely different layouts work rather than shuffling the same four cabins.

Common configurations put a full-hull owner's suite on one side, with guest accommodation and crew opposite. The NEXT saloon design opens the interior aft into the cockpit and forward onto the bow terrace.

Sunreef publishes no cabin or head count. Every 70 is drawn to its owner's brief, so the general arrangement is part of the contract, not the brochure.

The 70 competes with semi-custom catamarans from a handful of yards and with monohulls of similar cost that offer half the deck space and none of the shallow draft. Sunreef's argument is vertical integration: hulls, joinery, solar panels and electric integration all done in Gdansk.

Against the 80 Sail NEXT the 70 gives up living space and sail area but stays inside a size where a smaller crew can run the boat. Against the 70 Sunreef Power it trades the flybridge and the outright volume for a rig that generates its own power.

This is Sunreef's core boat, and the one the yard has built the most of in the sailing range.

Buy the 70 Sail NEXT if you want to make long passages and then stay put at the far end without a generator. It is the smallest boat in the range with the tankage and the sail area to justify that plan.

Step up to the 80 or 100 if you want more solar roof and more accommodation, and are already committed to a professional crew. Step down to the 60 if you want to keep the boat closer to owner-operable. Look elsewhere if published performance data is a requirement — Sunreef publishes none at any size.
