The 65 Sport Yacht is the Predator 65's hull with a different sales pitch: a SkyHelm that stands up to dock and drops into your arms to run, and a Beach Club you get by carrying the tender on the platform instead of in the garage.

Quick Verdict

  • Identical platform to the Predator 65 on every published figure: 67' 2" LOA, 16' 8" beam, 5' 3" draft, 83,357 lbs at half load, twin Volvo Penta IPS 1200 at 2 x 900 HP, 924 gal fuel, 211 gal water, 3-4 cabins / 4 en-suites plus crew, up to 35 knots. There is no spec difference to find.
  • The SkyHelm is the reason to choose this one: upright with an IPS docking joystick for low-speed manoeuvring, lowered into bespoke seats with carbon fibre backrests and an integrated centre console for running. One station doing two jobs, on a boat with no second helm.
  • Beach Club here means carrying the tender on the bathing platform and turning the garage into a room with direct sea access, a bar, fridge, BBQ and free-standing seating. The Predator 65 answers the same question by keeping the tender inside an extra-wide garage - you cannot have both.
  • Three cabins for six guests around a full-beam master, four en-suites and day head, and a fully appointed crew cabin forward of the garage.
  • Up to 35 knots is a ceiling, not a cruising setting. Get observed burn at the rpm you intend to sit at in writing at sea trial, and work it against 924 gallons.

Our Take

Let me deal with the obvious question first. The 65 Sport Yacht and the Predator 65 are the same boat underneath, and every published number is identical: 67' 2" overall, 16' 8" beam, 5' 3" draft, 83,357 lbs at half load, twin Volvo Penta IPS 1200 at 2 x 900 HP, 924 gallons of fuel, 211 of water, three cabins with a fourth optional across four en-suites plus crew, up to 35 knots. There is no hidden performance difference and no extra volume. If someone tells you otherwise, ask them which figure they mean.

What the Sport Yacht page actually argues is the helm, and I think it is the better story of the two. The SkyHelm stands upright when you are manoeuvring at low speed with the IPS docking joystick, so you are looking over the bow the way you want to be when you are threading a 67-footer into a berth. Then it drops so the wheel falls into outstretched arms when you are sat low in the bespoke seats, cossetted by carbon fibre backrests with an integrated centre console between them. That is two genuinely different driving positions in one station, and on a boat with no flybridge and no second helm it is the difference between docking blind and docking properly.

The other real distinction is the tender logic, and it is a trade rather than a bonus. Sunseeker's Beach Club specification here works by carrying the tender on the bathing platform and reconfiguring the vacated garage space as a room with direct sea access, a bar, a fridge, a BBQ and free-standing seating. The Predator's page instead sells an extra-wide garage sized for a Williams 345 launched over a diagonal sliding hydraulic platform. Same hull, opposite answers. Decide which one your season actually looks like before you get to the options sheet. And whichever way you go, get observed burn at your intended rpm in writing on trial and do your own arithmetic against 924 gallons - up to 35 knots is a ceiling, not the setting you will live at.

Sunseeker 65 Sport Yacht Overview

The Sunseeker 65 Sport Yacht is 67' 2" overall on a 16' 8" beam, drawing 5' 3" at full load and displacing 83,357 lbs at half load. Power is twin Volvo Penta IPS 1200 at 2 x 900 HP on pods, with a higher-output IPS package listed alongside it, and Sunseeker publishes a maximum of up to 35 knots. Fuel is 924 US gallons, fresh water 211, generators 13.5 kW at both 50 and 60 Hz.

It shares that entire specification with the Predator 65 - the two boats are built on one platform and Sunseeker's own pages agree on every published figure. Where they differ is in what each is designed around.

The 65 Sport Yacht is designed around its helm. The SkyHelm carries an IPS docking joystick and can be used in an upright position for low-speed manoeuvring or lowered so the wheel falls into outstretched arms when you are sat low in the bespoke helm seats, which have carbon fibre backrests and an integrated centre console between them. There is no flybridge and no second station, so that one helm has to work in both modes, and Sunseeker has built it to.

The layout is described as modular, adapting between socialising and running the boat. Three cabins, including a full-beam master, accommodate up to six guests, with a fully appointed crew cabin located forward of the garage. Cabins are listed as 3 with 4 optional, and en-suites and day head as 4, plus crew.

Aft, the headline option is the Beach Club: carry the tender on the bathing platform instead, and the vacated garage space is reconfigured with direct sea access, a bar, a fridge, a BBQ and free-standing seating - a room at the waterline for owners who spend their days in it.

Performance & Handling

Sunseeker publishes up to 35 knots for the 65 Sport Yacht, the same figure it gives the Predator 65 on the identical platform. That is a ceiling on a flat day with the throttles buried, and the setting you will actually run for an afternoon is the one worth having: on sea trial, run the boat at the rpm you intend to sit at, ask for observed burn at that rpm in writing, and work your own arithmetic against 924 gallons.

The standard engine package is twin Volvo Penta IPS 1200 at 2 x 900 HP, driving pods. Sunseeker lists a second, higher-output IPS option alongside it, so if you are driving a demonstrator, establish which is fitted before you judge the top end.

Where this boat differentiates itself is the driving position rather than the drivetrain. The SkyHelm stands up for low-speed work with the IPS docking joystick and lowers for running, with the seats set low and carbon fibre backrests around them. On a 67-foot boat with no second helm, the ability to dock standing and to run seated from the same station is a functional advantage, not a styling one - and it is the single thing to test hardest on a trial. Take it into a berth the width of yours with wind on the beam.

Draft is 5' 3" at full load, shallow for the length. Displacement is 83,357 lbs at half load, so get a rigged, loaded weight for your own hull before you commit a lift.

Interior & Accommodations

Three cabins take up to six guests, built around a full-beam master, with four en-suites and day head listed and a fourth cabin available. Sunseeker also tells you where the crew live on this boat: a fully appointed crew cabin forward of the garage, so crew are not moving through guest accommodation to get to work.

Sunseeker describes the layout as modular, with space that adapts between socialising and running hard. In practice that means the same volume can be specified in different ways, and those are decisions made once at order rather than later.

The main-deck feature is the helm station itself, which is as much a room as a control position. The SkyHelm can stand upright for low-speed manoeuvring with the IPS docking joystick, then lower so the wheel falls into outstretched arms when you are sat low in the bespoke seats. Those seats have carbon fibre backrests and an integrated centre console between them. If you are the person driving, that is the part of this boat you will interact with every single day, and it is the reason to choose this hull over its sibling.

Aft, the Beach Club is the option that changes how the boat lives. Take the tender out of the garage and carry it on the bathing platform instead, and the vacated space becomes a room with direct sea access, a bar, a fridge, a BBQ and free-standing seating. For owners who anchor rather than cruise, that is a bigger change to daily life than any interior finish.

The trade is real and worth stating plainly: the Predator 65 on the same hull sells an extra-wide garage sized for a Williams 345 with a diagonal sliding hydraulic platform. You cannot have both answers. Decide which one your season looks like.

Market Position

The 65 Sport Yacht's nearest competitor carries the same specification sheet. The Predator 65 is 67' 2" overall, 16' 8" in the beam, 5' 3" of draft, 83,357 lbs at half load, twin Volvo Penta IPS 1200 at 2 x 900 HP, 924 gallons of fuel, 211 of water, three or four cabins across four en-suites plus crew, up to 35 knots. Every one of those figures is also this boat's. Sunseeker built one platform and gave it two names, and it does not hide that.

The choice, then, is a choice of emphasis. The Predator's page is written about the aft end - an extra-wide garage for a Williams 345, a diagonal sliding hydraulic bathing platform, four cockpit furniture configurations, a bow entertaining area. The Sport Yacht's page is written about the helm and the crew cabin, and its Beach Club is bought by moving the tender onto the platform. Two coherent answers to one hull.

Against the wider market at 65 to 70 feet, the boats a buyer will genuinely drive alongside this one are the Princess S65 at 67' 7", which is the other British sport yacht and within five inches on length, and the Azimut S7 at 71' 2", which is the Italian interpretation of the same brief and slightly larger.

The 65 Sport Yacht's argument in that company is the driving position. Pod propulsion with joystick docking is common at this size now; a helm that physically reconfigures between standing manoeuvres and low-seated running is not, and on a boat with no second station it earns its place. Assess it in a berth, not on a brochure page.

Who the 65 Sport Yacht Is For

This boat fits the owner who drives it themselves. That sounds like a slogan until you look at the helm: it stands upright with an IPS docking joystick for low-speed manoeuvring, then lowers so the wheel meets outstretched arms when you are sat low in carbon-backed seats. There is no flybridge and no second station on this hull, so a helm that works in both modes is not a luxury - it is the design solving the problem it created.

It fits people who anchor. The Beach Club specification carries the tender on the bathing platform and turns the vacated garage into a room with direct sea access, a bar, a fridge, a BBQ and free-standing seating. If your best days are spent at the waterline rather than under way, this is the option the boat is built around.

It fits an owner who runs crew. Sunseeker places a fully appointed crew cabin forward of the garage on this boat, so crew are not routed through the guest accommodation.

It fits six guests properly. Three cabins including a full-beam master, four en-suites and day head, and a fourth cabin available if you need it.

It does not fit an owner whose tender is the point. Carrying it on the platform is the Beach Club's premise, and if you want the tender inside, the Predator 65 on the identical hull sells an extra-wide garage sized for a Williams 345 and a diagonal sliding hydraulic platform to launch it. Same boat, opposite answer.

It does not fit a buyer who wants an upper helm or a second station - that requirement goes to the 75 Sport Yacht or a Manhattan, where the flybridge is the point of the boat.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Sunseeker 65 Sport Yacht faster than the Predator 65?

No. They are the same platform and Sunseeker publishes the same maximum for both: up to 35 knots, from twin Volvo Penta IPS 1200 at 2 x 900 HP on pods. Length, beam, draft, displacement, fuel, water, cabins and en-suites are identical too.

Cruise figures quoted for these two boats on listing sites differ from each other despite the identical specification, which tells you what they are worth. Collect the real number yourself: hold the rpm you intend to cruise at on the sea trial and have observed burn at that rpm written down, with the load aboard noted beside it.

What is the SkyHelm on the Sunseeker 65 Sport Yacht?

A helm station that reconfigures. It carries the IPS docking joystick and can be used in an upright position for low-speed manoeuvring, then lowered so the wheel falls into outstretched arms when you are sat low in the bespoke helm seats, which have carbon fibre backrests and an integrated centre console between them.

That matters because this hull has no flybridge and no second helm station, so one position has to work both for putting a 67-foot boat into a slip and for running it at speed. Test both positions on the trial, in a berth the width of the one you keep.

Where does the tender go on a 65 Sport Yacht specified with the Beach Club?

On the bathing platform. That is how the Beach Club works on this boat: moving the tender out of the garage frees that volume, which is then reconfigured with direct sea access, a bar, a fridge, a BBQ and free-standing seating.

It is a trade rather than an addition, and it is the clearest single difference between this boat and the Predator 65 on the identical hull, which instead offers an extra-wide garage sized for a Williams 345 jet tender launched over a diagonal sliding hydraulic bathing platform. Decide which describes your season before you reach the options sheet.

Should I choose the 65 Sport Yacht or the Predator 65?

The specification will not help - the two boats are identical on every published figure.

Choose the 65 Sport Yacht if you drive the boat yourself and want the SkyHelm, which stands upright with the IPS docking joystick for manoeuvring and drops into carbon-backed seats for running, and if you spend your best days anchored and want the Beach Club with direct sea access, a bar, a fridge and a BBQ. It also carries a fully appointed crew cabin forward of the garage.

Choose the Predator 65 if the tender is the point - it keeps an extra-wide garage sized for a Williams 345 with a diagonal sliding hydraulic launching platform and space for SeaBobs, paddleboards or diving gear - or if you want four documented cockpit configurations, a bow entertaining area with its own large sunpad, or the option of an open-plan Owner's Office linked to the master.
