Some owners love the sailing. Others love where the sailing gets them, and would rather arrive on a schedule. Lagoon's power catamarans are built for the second group: the same wide, level platform and the same two-hull accommodation, with the rig traded for engines and the flybridge living space that a mast and boom would otherwise crowd.
These are not fast boats in the sport-yacht sense and they are not trying to be. The argument is comfort at a steady cruise, the deck space a catamaran gives you at anchor, and a motion that lets people sleep on a passage.

Moving Up the Power Catamarans Series
The Sixty 7 is the entry to the line and the one most owners can still run themselves with occasional help. The Seventy 8 adds crew accommodation and the main-deck owner's suite that makes long stays feel like a residence rather than a trip.
The Eighty 3 is the current flagship and the newest thinking in the range — the boat Lagoon built to replace the Seventy 8 at the top of the line. Choose between them on crew and dockage, not on speed: the character of all three is the same, and it is the deck space and the steadiness, not the throttle.

The power cats are the most misunderstood boats Lagoon builds.
Buyers arrive expecting a slower version of a motor yacht and find something else — a boat with the deck area of a yacht ten feet longer and a ride that does not empty the salon when it gets lumpy. That flat, stable motion is the entire product. It is why guests who normally skip the crossing come along for it.
What I tell people to check honestly is dockage. A 36-foot beam is a real constraint in a lot of marinas and it is worth sorting out before you fall for the boat, not after.

How fast is a Lagoon power catamaran?
16 knots maximum and 12 knots cruise on the Sixty 7; 19 knots and 10 knots on the Seventy 8; 18 knots and 12 knots on the Eighty 3. Those are the figures on our verified specification tables and the only ones we publish.
The power behind them is Twin Yanmar (2 x 440 HP) on the Sixty 7, Twin Volvo D11-510 (2 x 510 HP) on the Seventy 8 and Twin John Deere N13-580 (2 x 580 HP) on the Eighty 3.
Lagoon publishes no fuel-burn figure for any of the three. The one autonomy claim it makes is on the Eighty 3, which the yard says offers 3,500 nautical miles. Before you commit to a crossing plan, ask for observed consumption at your intended cruise speed in writing.
Is the Lagoon Seventy 8 still in the current range?
No — it is a heritage model. Lagoon has moved the Seventy 8 out of the current power lineup and the Eighty 3 now tops the range, so a Seventy 8 comes to you as a brokerage purchase rather than a new-build order.
The two are close in size: 78'1" (23.80 m) against 80'1" (24.40 m), the same 36'1" (11.00 m) beam and the same 4'2" (1.27 m) draft. The Seventy 8 is the quicker of the pair flat out at 19 knots against 18 knots; the Eighty 3 holds the higher cruise at 12 knots against 10 knots, carries Twin John Deere N13-580 (2 x 580 HP) against Twin Volvo D11-510 (2 x 510 HP), and is the only Lagoon with a published autonomy figure.
If you want this size of power catamaran without waiting on a build slot, the Seventy 8 is the boat to shop.
How is Lagoon's power range different from its sailing catamarans?
Three models instead of eleven, all of them large flybridge motor yachts on catamaran hulls: the Sixty 7 at 66'1" (20.15 m), the Seventy 8 at 78'1" (23.80 m) and the Eighty 3 at 80'1" (24.40 m). There is no rig, so nothing about sail handling applies.
What you gain is passage speed and, surprisingly, shallow water: the Seventy 8 and Eighty 3 draw just 4'2" (1.27 m), less than the 47'7" 46 Iconic sailing cat at 4'6" (1.37 m). What you give up is running the boat yourselves — all three quote their heads "+ Crew", with 4-6 Cabins on the Sixty 7 and Eighty 3 and 3-6 Cabins on the Seventy 8.
The trade is straightforward: speed and volume in exchange for a professional aboard.
Do Lagoon power catamarans need professional crew?
Plan on it. All three quote their heads with "+ Crew" — 4-6 Cabins / 4-6 Heads + Crew on the Sixty 7 and Eighty 3, 3-6 Cabins / 3-6 Heads + Crew on the Seventy 8 — and berths run from 8 to 16 people.
At 66 to 80 feet with 32'10" (10.00 m) to 36'1" (11.00 m) of beam, docking, tender handling and systems management are a working job rather than a weekend one, and the accommodation is drawn on that assumption.
If running the boat yourself is the point, look at the sailing range instead: everything below the Sixty 5 is specified without crew quarters, and the 46 Iconic is the size most couples actually manage on their own.
