Quick Verdict

  • Sea Ray's own legacy page credits this boat with establishing the design language now running through the whole range — the hull windows, the sheer line and the coupe hardtop all start here
  • Publishes the figures that matter: 36–38 mph cruise, 42–44 mph wide open, and 135 miles of range at cruise from a 250-gallon tank
  • Sleeps four with a separate shower stall rather than a wet head, and carries CZone digital switching — a feature Sea Ray fits to only a handful of models

Our Take

Sea Ray's own history page says its current design language was established with the launch of the Sundancer 370, and you can see it. The two hull windows where the previous boat had one portlight, the sharper sheer, the coupe hardtop with the skylight — everything that has come since carries this boat's fingerprints. That matters commercially as well as aesthetically: this is the shape the range has agreed on, which usually means parts, dealers and second buyers all understand it.

The detail I keep coming back to is the bow cockpit. A glass door to port folds open on gas struts and the foredeck becomes a real social space rather than a place to store people. Add the teak table and you are dining up there. It is a genuinely good idea, executed properly, and it is the reason the boat feels bigger than 37 feet.

Below, the head has a separate shower stall — not a wet bath with a curtain — and that is the line between a boat you can spend a weekend on and one you would rather not. The performance is honest and published: 36 to 38 mph cruise, 42 to 44 wide open, 135 miles at cruise. One correction worth making out loud: this page previously carried a 44.6-knot top speed attributed to a magazine sea trial. That figure is both higher than Sea Ray's own and from a source we do not use. Sea Ray's numbers are the ones on this page now.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Sea Ray Sundancer 370 have a separate shower?

Yes, and it is one of the strongest arguments for the boat. The head is equipped with a separate shower stall with its own finishes, rather than the wet-bath arrangement where the shower drains into the same compartment as everything else — which is what most builders offer at this length. Alongside a galley with a microwave, refrigerator, sink and solid-surface countertop, and a forward lounge with an L-shaped couch and a smart TV, it is the detail that makes a weekend aboard genuinely comfortable rather than merely possible.

What makes the Sundancer 370's bow cockpit different?

You walk into it through a folding glass door rather than climbing over the windshield. A glass door to port opens on gas-assisted struts, which turns the foredeck from a place you send people into a space they choose. It seats up to five adults, takes an optional teak table for dining, or a filler cushion to become a full sun lounge, and it has its own Fusion stereo control. It is the single design decision that makes a 37-foot boat feel considerably larger, and it is the feature to test on a sea trial with somebody actually sitting up there while you run.

What is the Sea Ray Sundancer 370's cruising speed and range?

Sea Ray publishes 36 to 38 mph cruising and 42 to 44 mph at wide-open throttle, with 135 statute miles of range at cruise and 132 miles at full throttle from a 250-gallon tank. All four are the builder's own figures. Power is a single package: twin Mercury MerCruiser 8.2L MAG HO ECT engines at 430 hp each on Bravo Three X SeaCore drives with Joystick Piloting, totalling 860 horsepower against a 20,800-pound dry weight. Note that 135 miles is shorter than this boat is often credited with elsewhere, and it is the number to plan around.
