The SX120 is the first time Sanlorenzo has taken the crossover idea and given it the volume it deserves. The yard's own framing is a synthesis between a classic flybridge motoryacht and its explorer range, and that is a fair description of what you get: the social decks of the former, the water access of the latter, and a 70 square metre beach area with a retractable pool that is the best space on the boat.
The Volvo Penta IPS Professional Platform is the headline, and it is a real one — this is the first Sanlorenzo to carry it. Four engines feeding pods, with the efficiency and emissions case that Volvo makes for the system. I would flag one thing: the efficiency and noise claims you see attached to this boat in percentages and decibels are Volvo's platform-level marketing, not measurements taken on an SX120. If those numbers matter to your decision, get them measured on the boat you are buying.
Sanlorenzo publishes 24 knots, 20,100 litres and ten guests. It publishes no cruise speed, no draft, no displacement and no range for this or any of its models. So the honest version of the ownership conversation starts with a sea trial sheet and a build specification, not with a range claim. This is a boat for someone who will spend months aboard rather than weeks — at that rate it makes complete sense, and below it, it does not.

The SX120 is the first Sanlorenzo to use Volvo Penta's IPS Professional Platform, with four engines rated at 1,000 CV each. Sanlorenzo's claim for it is superior performance, better fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. That is a platform-level claim about the propulsion system rather than a measured result on this hull, so if efficiency or noise are central to your decision, have them demonstrated on a sea trial of the boat you are buying.
The SX120 is twenty feet longer and carries two more guests and one more crew member: ten and six against eight and five. It is marginally faster at a published 24 knots against 23, carries 20,100 litres of fuel against 15,800, and adds a genuine fourth deck. The larger change is operational. The SX100 can be run with owner involvement on shorter trips; the SX120's six-crew complement expects a full professional team.
Sanlorenzo publishes 70 square metres, with a retractable pool, and describes 360-degree panoramic views from the upper deck. The SX120 is the largest model in the SX range at 120 feet exactly, with a published maximum speed of 24 knots, 20,100 litres of fuel, and accommodation listed as ten guests and six crew.
