Sunseeker's Yacht line has five boats in it and spans fifty-five feet, from 77' 5" to 132' 8". The 76 Yacht is where it starts, and it is the fastest and the shallowest of the group.
Up to 32 knots on twin MAN V12-1400s, 5' 7" of draft, and four cabins, four heads and crew quarters inside 77 feet. It is the smallest boat in the flagship line and, in the two respects that decide most itineraries, the most capable.
The specification
Length overall is 77' 5". Beam is 19' 6". Draft is 5' 7", and on Sunseeker that figure is always a maximum at full load rather than a lightest-case number. Displacement is 118,140 lbs at half load, the condition Sunseeker publishes across its whole range.
Accommodation is four cabins and four heads, plus crew quarters. Fuel is 1,585 US gallons. Fresh water is 370 US gallons. Power is twin MAN V12-1400s at 1,400 a side, and Sunseeker quotes up to 32 knots.
One unit note. Sunseeker states output in PS rather than horsepower, and the engine's model name is literally V12-1400. The two units are about 1.4 percent apart, so a figure quoted in PS and a figure quoted in HP for this installation describe the same engine.
Why the draft is the argument
The 76 draws 5' 7". The 88 Yacht above it draws 7' 0" and so does the 95 Yacht. That is sixteen inches, for the same four cabins, four heads and crew quarters that the 88 carries.
Sixteen inches of draft is not a line on a comparison chart. It is whether a bank, a cut or a home berth is available to you or not, and it does not become less important as the boat gets older. If your cruising is Bahamian, Floridian shallow-water, or anywhere with a tidal approach you have to time, this is the number that decides which Sunseeker you buy, and it decides it before anything about joinery or deck layout comes into the conversation.
The speed goes the same way. Up to 32 knots is the highest figure anywhere in the Yacht line: the 100 Yacht is quoted at 30, the 88 at 28, the 95 at 26.5 and the 134 Yacht at 20. That ladder is really tracking displacement. At 118,140 lbs the 76 is the lightest boat in the group by more than 52,000 lbs, and it is the only one on MAN power. From the 88 Yacht upward the range is MTU.
The number to bring home from the trial
The 32-knot maximum describes a condition you will almost never be in, so the sea trial has to do work that the brochure normally does. Take the observed numbers at the rpm you genuinely intend to run, on a boat carrying something close to what yours will carry, and write them down. It is a fifteen-minute job on the day, and it is the figure that will actually describe your ownership.
How it compares
The Azimut Fly 78 is the closest thing to a direct length match: 77' 7" against 77' 5". The Azimut is eight inches narrower in the beam at 18' 10", carries 1,321 gallons of fuel to the Sunseeker's 1,585, and runs three Volvo Penta IPS drives rather than two shafts.
The Princess Y80 is six feet longer at 83' 8", carries 1,849 gallons, and is quoted at 33 knots on twin MAN V12-1900s with the same four cabins, four heads and crew arrangement. If you want the accommodation and are not constrained on length or draft, it is the obvious cross-shop.
The Sanlorenzo SX76 is 77' 9" and is not really the same boat. It is a 22-knot four-engine IPS design with a much wider 21' 8" beam and a different idea of what the length is for.
Four things to get in writing
The engine package as rated. Twin MAN V12-1400 is what the yard publishes. Have the exact rating on your contract.
Rigged weight and tankage as fitted. Half-load displacement is 118,140 lbs and fuel is 1,585 gallons on the published sheet. Confirm both for your hull rather than for the model.
Observed consumption at your cruising rpm. Available only at sea trial, and only if you ask for it before you go out.
Fresh water and how it is made. 370 US gallons serves four cabins plus crew. The 88 Yacht carries the same 370 while being 52,277 lbs heavier, and the 95 Yacht carries 462. If you plan to be off a dock for a week with a full complement, settle watermaker capacity at the order desk.
The verdict
The 76 Yacht is the boat you buy when you want the flagship accommodation package at the shallowest draft and the highest speed Sunseeker offers in the line. Four cabins, four heads, crew quarters, 5' 7" of draft and up to 32 knots on a 77-footer is a coherent proposition, and the sixteen inches it gives you over the 88 is worth more to most owners than nine feet of length would be.
Buy it knowing that the sea trial is where the performance conversation happens, and go into that day with a list.
