The Tiara Yachts LX Series

Tiara's Luxury Crossover - one boat, the 34 LX at 34' 9", the shortest hull in the current range

Tiara Yachts LX yacht

LX is Tiara's Luxury Crossover class, and it currently has one boat in it - the 34 LX at 34' 9".

Tiara draws it around a centerline walkway, so guests move from the aft cockpit to the bow seating without climbing over anyone. The transformational aft seating that runs through the yard's outboard boats is here too, reconfiguring so a group can face each other or spread out, and a well-equipped galley and a private head sit below the helm.

The numbers are a day boat's, deliberately: 11' 0" beam, 3' 1" draft, 13,800 lbs dry, 200 gallons of fuel with 30 of fresh water and a 20-gallon holding tank, and 22 degrees of deadrise at the transom. Waterline to the standard hardtop is 8' 7", and 9' 11" to the Garmin radar.

Moving Up the LX Series

There is one boat in this class, so the useful comparison runs sideways - against the boats it sits beside in the range.

The 34 LX at 34' 9" is the shortest hull Tiara builds and the only one in the current range whose accommodation is a galley and a private head rather than a berth. The whole boat is the entertaining space, and the 200-gallon tank is sized to match: long days out and back.

The 35 LS is a foot longer on a 11' 6" beam and answers a different question - 410 gallons against 200, and below-deck forward seating that converts to a queen berth. The 39 LE five feet further up puts two sleeping quarters and a below-deck galley under the same idea. Draft climbs with each step, from 3' 1" to 3' 4" to 3' 8", so the LX is also the one that goes furthest into thin water.

Our Take

A one-boat class is usually a builder hedging. This one is a builder being precise about who the boat is for.

The 34 LX is the Tiara for a day that starts and ends at the same slip. Six or eight people aboard, a galley you can actually make lunch in, a private head that decides whether the group stays out until six or turns for home at two, and a centerline walkway so nobody has to climb over the person in the good seat. Two hundred gallons is the tell: this is a boat sized for long days out and back, not for chasing a fuel dock two harbours away.

What I like is the discipline. At 34' 9" most builders would squeeze in a token berth and call it a cabin. Tiara gave the space to the deck instead, and the boat is better for it - 11 feet of beam and 22 degrees of deadrise under a layout that is all seating and walkway. If you want the berth, the 35 LS is one foot longer and has it.

Two things to settle before you sign. Confirm the engine package on the actual hull you are being offered, because the LX has been shown with more than one Mercury Verado fit. And get observed speed and burn at your intended rpm in writing at sea trial, then work your own numbers off 200 gallons.
