Quick Verdict

  • 540 gallons on a 43'6" hull, worth 302 statute miles at a 35.3 mph cruise and 312 at 40.9 mph on Tiara's own test sheet, both figures calculated on 90 percent of the tank
  • Sliding glass door and an electrically actuated glass window open the salon to the cockpit, with a fold-down hullside terrace dropping the space to the water
  • Twin Mercury 600 Verado V12s recorded 51.4 mph at 6,158 rpm and idle to 30 mph in 10.8 seconds at 29,775 lbs as tested, over two staterooms and a centralized galley in the salon

Our Take

The 43 LE is the boat in Tiara's Luxury Express line where overnighting stops being the exception. Two staterooms, a private head to the guest space, and a galley up in the salon rather than buried below - on a 43'6" hull you drive yourself from a joystick.

The tank is the argument. 540 gallons against the 43 LS's 400, at 24,000 lbs dry against 22,400. Tiara's own sheet, taken at 29,775 lbs as tested with full tanks and three aboard, gives 302 statute miles at a 35.3 mph cruise and 312 at 40.9 mph, on 56.8 and 63.8 gallons per hour. As on the 39 LE, the faster cruise setting is the longer-legged one, which is worth knowing before you talk yourself into running slower than you want to.

What I would actually spend time on at the dock is the aft bulkhead. The sliding glass door and the electrically actuated glass window turn the salon and the cockpit into one room, and the fold-down hullside terrace drops that room to the water. Open it all up and see whether the boat you are standing on is the boat you pictured. Then decide the cockpit module - rotating Buffet Lounge or Adventure - because that is ordered, not swapped. And get observed burn at your intended rpm in writing at sea trial, worked against 540 gallons.

Tiara Yachts 43 LE Overview

The 43 LE is Tiara's mid-size Luxury Express: 43'6" overall including the integrated platform, on a 13'0" beam and a 3'5" draft, 24,000 lbs dry, carrying 540 gallons of fuel and 21 degrees of deadrise at the transom.

The salon opens to the cockpit through a sliding glass door and an electrically actuated glass window, and a fold-down hullside terrace drops the boat to the water. The cockpit itself is a choice: the rotating Buffet Lounge with a high-gloss table, electric grill and countertop, or the Adventure Module with fold-down lounge seating, a coil-wrapped freezer tank and a livewell.

Performance & Handling

Twin Mercury 600 Verado V12s, run through Mercury digital throttle and shift with joystick piloting and Garmin navigation at the helm. Tiara's own test recorded 51.4 mph at 6,158 rpm and idle-to-30 mph in 10.8 seconds, at 29,775 lbs as tested with full tanks and three aboard.

Optimum cruise is 35.3 mph at 4,500 rpm or 40.9 mph at 5,000 rpm, worth 302 and 312 statute miles on 90 percent of the 540-gallon tank. Burn on the day was 56.8 and 63.8 gallons per hour at those two settings, so the faster cruise was also the longer-legged one. Get observed burn at your intended rpm in writing at sea trial and work your own numbers off 540 gallons.

Interior & Accommodations

Two staterooms and one head: a private owner's stateroom forward, a mid-cabin guest stateroom, and the head private to that space. The atrium and steps lead up to a fully equipped, centralized galley in the salon.

A transforming portside companion seat adjusts to add dining seating, and the dinette converts to a berth, so the sleeping count moves with the weekend rather than being fixed by the two cabins.

Market Position

The 43 LE sits between the 39 LE and the 48 LE in Tiara's Luxury Express line. The disappearing bulkhead that blends salon and cockpit is on the 43 and the 48; the fold-down terrace is on all three.

At the same 43'6" length Tiara also builds the 43 LS in the Luxury Sport line. The LE carries 540 gallons at 24,000 lbs dry against the LS's 400 gallons at 22,400 lbs - the cabins and the range come with the weight.

Who the 43 LE Is For

Buy the 43 LE if overnighting is the point rather than the exception - two staterooms, a private head, and a 540-gallon tank that puts 312 statute miles inside one cruise setting, on a hull you run yourself from a joystick.

If your weekends end back at the dock, the 43 LS puts the same 43'6" into cockpit and social space on 400 gallons. If you need a second head and a third engine, the 48 LE is the step up.

The LE carries 540 gallons at 24,000 lbs dry and puts two staterooms and a private head below, with a disappearing bulkhead between salon and cockpit. The LS carries 400 gallons at 22,400 lbs and gives the space to the cockpit, with four sleeping below.

How many cabins does the Tiara 43 LE have?

Two staterooms and one head: a private owner's stateroom forward, a mid-cabin guest stateroom, and a head private to that space. The galley is centralized up in the salon, reached by the atrium steps, and the dinette converts to a berth, so the sleeping count moves with the weekend rather than being fixed by the two cabins.

What is the cruising range of the Tiara 43 LE?

302 statute miles at the 35.3 mph cruise setting and 312 statute miles at 40.9 mph, both worked on 90 percent of the 540-gallon tank.
