Two specification lines, read together, tell you more about the Sunseeker 90 Ocean than any amount of walkthrough footage.
Fuel capacity: 3,434 gallons. Fresh water capacity: 400 gallons.
Now read the same two lines on the 82 Ocean, the boat directly beneath it in the same class. Fuel: 2,245 gallons. Fresh water: 396 gallons.
The 90 is six feet longer, two feet wider, sixteen and a half thousand pounds heavier, and it publishes crew accommodation where the 82 publishes cabins alone. Sunseeker gave it 1,189 more gallons of fuel. It gave it four more gallons of water.
Why that gap matters
The ratio on the 90 Ocean is roughly 8.6 gallons of fuel for every gallon of fresh water. On the 82 it is 5.7 to one.
A boat's practical endurance is governed by whichever tank empties first with people living aboard. On a four cabin yacht with crew, in warm weather, with showers and a galley in daily use, that tank is not the one holding three and a half thousand gallons of diesel.
This is not a criticism of the design. Water is heavy and it takes volume that a builder can spend on fuel, machinery or accommodation, and a watermaker solves the problem completely. What it is, is a decision that has been made for you and handed over as a specification line, and it belongs in the build contract rather than on next winter's job list. Ask the question at the first meeting, not at handover.
The rest of the numbers
Length overall is 88' 11". Beam is 23' 6", shared with the 90 Ocean Enclosed - between them the widest flybridge platform Sunseeker currently builds below the 134 Yacht, the only model in the range with more at 26' 1".
Draft is 6' 4", quoted as a maximum at full load. There is no reserve hidden in that number, so check it loaded against your berth, your lift and any bar you cross routinely.
Displacement is 181,440 lbs at half load, and half load is the condition to plan every lift and berth around.
Accommodation is four cabins and four heads plus crew. Power is twin MAN V12-1650s, 1,650 HP a side. Maximum speed is 27 knots.
The heavier boat is the faster boat
Here is a genuine oddity, and it runs the opposite way to instinct.
The 90 Ocean and the 82 Ocean carry the same engines. Identical: twin MAN V12-1650s, 3,300 HP between them. The 90 weighs 16,909 lbs more at half load. And the 90 publishes 27 knots where the 82 publishes 25.
More weight, same power, higher maximum. In power-to-weight terms the 90 carries about 55 lbs per horsepower against the 82's 50, and it still goes two knots better.
That is waterline length doing what waterline length does on a heavy flybridge hull, and it is a useful corrective to the habit of reading horsepower as speed. It is also the clearest evidence that the two Ocean sizes are genuinely different hulls rather than a stretched version of one, which the two 82s, identical to each other on every published row, most certainly are.
The cabin count goes the wrong way too
The 82 Ocean publishes four to five cabins and four to five heads. The 90 Ocean, six feet longer and two feet wider, publishes four cabins and four heads plus crew.
The bigger boat has the smaller published guest count.
The extra volume has gone somewhere, and the sheet suggests where: crew accommodation, which appears in this class for the first time at 88' 11", and the machinery and tankage that come with an extra 1,189 gallons of fuel. Cabins are presumably larger too, though that is inference rather than specification and I will leave it there.
The practical consequence is straightforward. If you are stepping up from an 82 because you want another guest cabin, this is not the boat that delivers it. The 90 Ocean Enclosed is: its specification table gives five cabins and six en-suites plus crew. Confirm the layout on the general arrangement drawing for your hull number before you commit, because a cabin count is the one thing you cannot change afterwards.
The speed figure worth having
Twenty-seven knots is the top of the range, and it is not the speed you will hold for hours at a time. The number that shapes an ownership sits below it, at the rpm you actually settle on, and it is entirely within your power to obtain.
On the sea trial, hold that rpm and have observed consumption at it written into the trial report along with the load aboard and the state of the tanks. On a boat carrying 3,434 gallons, that one line will shape how you plan every season you own it, and it describes your hull at your loading rather than the model in the abstract.
Where it lands against the market
The closest thing on the market is the Princess X90, which is published at exactly the same 88' 11" length overall, the same 27-knot maximum, and the same four cabins and four heads plus crew. The Sunseeker is the wider boat at 23' 6" and carries the bigger fuel load. The Ferretti 860, at 88' 5", is quicker on paper.
Inside the brand, the honest framing is this: the Ocean class is where Sunseeker stops chasing speed. The Predator 75 does 40 knots on a hull weighing 103,396 lbs against this one's 181,440. The Ocean class spends that difference on volume, tankage and the ability to stay out.
If instead you want the widest, best-tanked flybridge platform the yard currently draws under 130 feet, and you are ready to run it with crew, the 90 Ocean is exactly that. Just sort out the water.
