If you want speed without the compromises that usually come attached, the SP line is Sanlorenzo's argument. The yard calls it Smart Performance, and describes it as redefining the sports yacht segment by uniting thrilling speed with comfort at every pace.
What makes it smart rather than simply powerful is the engineering underneath: waterjet propulsion with dynamic trim control, lightweight composite construction, and integrated solar panels — Sanlorenzo's own list. The result is 38 to 40 knots without resorting to the horsepower that competitors need to get there.
Sanlorenzo builds two SP models, the SP92 and the SP110. We have reviewed one of them. This hub covers the SP92; the SP110 is on our list and is not yet written up, so treat this page as a partial view of the line rather than the whole of it.

SP92 — 91'10", 8 guests / 4 crew. Two published engine packages with a speed for each: twin MAN V12 at 2,000 HP for 38 knots, or twin MAN 12V at 2,200 HP for 40 knots. Waterjet propulsion, 8,500 litres of fuel, and interiors across four levels.
SP110 — not yet reviewed. Sanlorenzo's larger Smart Performance model, and the yard's own description of it as "our first open" tells you where the line came from. We will add it here when it is written.

The SP line is the most interesting engineering in the Sanlorenzo range, and the waterjets are why. Jets change everything about how a boat behaves at low speed and everything about the maintenance conversation — different intervals, different specialists, different failure modes from shafts and props. Neither better nor worse than running gear, but genuinely different, and you should understand which you are buying.
The solar panels are the detail that tells you Sanlorenzo meant the word "smart". Integrated solar on a 40-knot sports yacht is not going to move the boat. It reduces what the generators have to do at anchor, which is where a yacht like this actually spends its time between fast passages.
One correction I want on the record, because it circulates constantly: the shallow draft quoted for the SP92 is not Sanlorenzo's figure. The yard publishes no draft for any model it builds. Waterjets do generally allow a shallower installation and that may well be a real advantage here — but if the anchorages you have in mind depend on it, make the number a written condition rather than an assumption.

Sanlorenzo does not publish it. The yard publishes no draft figure for the SP92 or for any other model it builds, so the shallow figures quoted for this boat elsewhere are estimates rather than the builder's number. Waterjets do generally allow a shallower installation than shafts and propellers, so a modest draft is plausible — but if shallow-water access is a reason you are buying the boat, get the figure from the build specification in writing and make it a condition rather than an assumption.

Jets also change low-speed handling and generally allow a shallower installation than shafts and propellers. They bring a different maintenance regime: less frequent attention than running gear, but more specialised when it is needed.
