Our Take
The SD96 is a boat whose numbers reward a second look. It is 94 feet 11 inches — not 96, and Sanlorenzo's model names are not its lengths, which is worth internalising before you talk berths with a marina. But it carries 15,700 litres of fuel and 2,500 litres of water, and that is a serious amount of tankage for the length. Tankage is what a semi-displacement hull is for.
Twin MAN 8V at 1,300 horsepower a side, 17 knots published. Eight guests, five crew. That crew number is the one I would sit with. Five crew on a 95-footer is a real operation, and it tells you the yard designed this as a properly run boat rather than something you take out yourself on a Saturday. If you were hoping to owner-operate it, look hard at the crew arrangements before you commit to the idea.
As with the whole fleet, Sanlorenzo publishes no cruise speed, no range, no draft and no displacement. The tankage is published, so the range arithmetic is available to you the moment you have observed fuel burn from a sea trial — insist on that document and you will have a better number than anything printed.
