Yes — Pelican Bay, on the northeast side of Cayo Costa, is the region's signature anchorage: well-protected in 4 to 7 feet, entered via Pelican Pass with a controlling depth of about 5 feet. The state park behind it is open daily 8 a.m. to sunset for private vessels at $2 per person in the honor box (correct change required), with nine miles of undeveloped shoreline reachable only by boat or kayak. Ferry service and overnight accommodations have been unavailable since July 28, 2025, so come self-sufficient. Small craft drawing under 5 feet also report anchorage outside in 7 to 11 feet between Johnson Shoals and the island's northwest side.

Tarpon is a catch-and-release-only fishery in Florida, and fish over 40 inches must remain in the water unless a state or world record is being pursued with a tarpon tag. Boca Grande Pass carries its own year-round gear rule: anything rigged so the weight hangs below the hook when suspended vertically is prohibited when fishing for any species, and such jigs must be stowed.
