Dock & Dine in Charleston
Arriving by boat in Charleston splits cleanly in two, and the split is a bridge.
Shem Creek is the postcard — a dense row of waterfront restaurants in Mount Pleasant, and the place most people picture when they think of eating on the water here. It is also capped. NOAA Coast Pilot puts the US-17 fixed span over Shem Creek at 12 ft of vertical clearance, which makes it open-boat and small-express-cruiser water. If you are running anything with a hardtop and an arch, the creek is a tender trip rather than a destination.
The harbour itself is where a larger boat eats. Charleston Harbor Fish House sits at Charleston Harbor Marina in Mount Pleasant and is explicit about how you arrive: call the marina or hail on VHF 16. That is a marina berth with a restaurant attached rather than a restaurant dock, and for anything over about 40 ft it is the honest answer.
Everywhere else, dining by boat here works the way it always has: dock space is settled on the telephone rather than on a website. Call the restaurant the day you plan to go, and keep a slip or the tender as the fallback for a busy evening.

Dockage notes are what each restaurant publishes on its own site — space is first-come and dinner-hour rafting is real, so hail ahead. Where a venue states nothing about docking, we say so rather than guess.
