You want the deck space and the beach area without giving up the way a Pershing drives. The GTX70 is the yard's answer: 71 feet, three Volvo pods, and side wings that fold out to open up the whole aft end.

Who It's For
This is the boat for the owner whose day happens outside. Three cabins plus a crew cabin sleep the party, and Pershing rates the GTX70 for sixteen people aboard. But the reason to choose it over an X Generation boat of similar length is what happens aft once you stop.
If outright pace is the point, the 7X runs surface drives to a published 50 knots and that is where you should be looking. If you want a fourth cabin, more beam and a second crew berth, that is the GTX80.
On Deck and Below
The side wings open out to extend the aft beach area, and the whole boat is organized around that one decision. A door and recessed window combination separates the cockpit from the salon, so the aft deck reads as one space with the interior or shuts away from it.
In the salon, two parallel sofas sit against the side walls. The aft deck carries a built-in sofa that can be specified as a sunpad instead - the choice between somewhere to eat and somewhere to lie down.
The hull measures 71'5" overall with a 17'9" maximum beam and a 6'8" draft. Unladen it weighs 99,208 lbs, 114,640 lbs laden. Fuel is 1,110 gallons, water 264.
Performance
Three Volvo Penta D13 IPS1200 pods, 900 hp each - 2,700 hp in total - give a published 36-knot maximum and a 30-knot cruise, with 300 nautical miles at that cruise from 1,110 gallons.
It is worth being precise about the horsepower, because the specification invites the mistake: Pershing prints the engine rating per unit. Nine hundred is one of three, not the boat's power.
Triple pods put the machinery well aft under the cockpit, which is part of how the aft end gets to be as usable as it is, and they hand a 71-footer joystick control at the dock. That is the trade against the surface-drive boats in the range: thirty-six knots instead of fifty, and an arrival you do not have to think about.
Where It Sits in the Range
The GTX70 is the smaller of the two GTX pod boats, sitting under the 78'8" GTX80. Both run triple Volvo pods - the GTX80's are the 1,000 hp IPS1350s, the GTX70's the 900 hp IPS1200s.
Set against the X Generation at similar length, the GTX70 trades top speed for deck space. Whether that reads as a downgrade depends entirely on whether you spend more of the day running or anchored. Be honest about which one you are.
