Dock & Dine in Sausalito
Dining in Sausalito works from a berth, not from a guest dock. No waterfront restaurant in town publishes an arrive-by-boat or tie-up policy, so the order is: take a slip, then walk. That works well here — Schoonmaker and Clipper both sit within walking distance of the Bridgeway waterfront, and the town is small.
The waterfront names are all a short walk from the slips. Scoma's of Sausalito calls itself "a Sausalito waterfront landmark restaurant" and tells the building's story as Lange's Launches. Barrel House Tavern describes "an inviting waterfront oasis." Salito's Crab House, The Spinnaker and Bar Bocce all sit on the water. The Trident is the fourth of the long-standing waterfront names — confirm it is trading before you plan an evening around it.
Two venues come with a berth attached. Schoonmaker names one as "located within the marina", and Clipper lists another as an on-site amenity. Both are the marina's, and that matters: the marina is the party that can actually give you a berth.
One thing not to try: the yacht club dock. Sausalito Yacht Club takes members and reciprocal clubs only, with a two-hour maximum and no overnight tie-ups, and it warns in its own words that "our dock experiences significant surge and current." It is not a dinner berth.
The chart below reads Richardson Bay and the approach rather than a dining strip — the Gate, the anchorage with its 72-hour clock, the eelgrass zone you may not anchor in, the berths that take a big boat, and the shoal beyond Daymarker 4.
