Eating ashore in Hampton Roads works one way: take a berth, then walk.
One place here is a berth and a table together. Top Rack Marina on the South Branch of the Elizabeth River publishes 22 transient slips in 30 ft by 60 ft bays with a stated 45,000 lb maximum, a fuel dock measuring 32 ft by 60 ft and carrying 6 to 15 ft at low tide, and dockage at $90 a night with power or $75 without. The Amber Lantern restaurant is on site — a marina berth with a table attached.
Everywhere else, take a slip and use your legs. Waterside Marina downtown is the walk-off point for the Norfolk waterfront, taking reservations for overnight dockage only with nothing temporary after 10pm. The Docks at Downtown Hampton offer both permanent and transient dockage and put you into Hampton's waterfront on foot. Everything else is a tender trip or a taxi.
