Dock & Dine in Martha's Vineyard
Dining on the Vineyard works from a berth or from the tender, and that is worth planning around before you arrive.
This is how these islands have always worked: you reach dinner by tender, by launch, or on foot from a slip you booked in February. The waterfront rooms sit on the harbour rather than on a dock of their own, so the practical Vineyard plan is a berth first and a table second.
Vineyard Haven puts the most within a short walk. The Owen Park town dock gives 15 minutes free for a drop-off, and the town moorings inside the breakwater are a short dinghy ride from the waterfront. In Edgartown every mooring is assigned and dockage caps at 90 ft, so arrive at a booked berth and walk from there. Oak Bluffs is the easiest of the three to do on foot — the harbour is the town.
So: book Oak Bluffs or Edgartown on Dockwa in February, or take a Tisbury town mooring on Channel 9, and go in from there. Where you intend to land a tender, ask the harbourmaster first — VHF 71 in Oak Bluffs, Channel 9 in Tisbury.
