The 860 represents Ferretti’s most mature thinking in the sub-100-foot flybridge segment. The build quality is consistent with what we’ve seen from the Cattolica yard over the past decade—solid laminate work, reliable systems integration, and finish details that hold up under real use. The optional 2000 mhp MAN engines are worth the upcharge if you’re serious about performance. At 27 knots cruise, you’re operating in a range where the hull is efficient and the engines aren’t working hard. The semi-displacement design is smart for this size class because it gives you options depending on sea state and schedule.

This boat is for the experienced owner who has already figured out what didn’t work on the last boat. If you’re upgrading from a 70-footer and you know you need more space but you’re not ready for full-time crew, the 860 is one of the few boats in this range that can be owner-operated without compromise. It’s also viable with a crew couple, which gives you flexibility depending on how you plan to use it. The four-cabin layout is legitimate, not a marketing stretch. The flybridge is large enough to be useful without becoming a maintenance liability. If you’re cross-shopping with Azimut or Sunseeker, the 860 is the more conservative choice, but conservative in this context means thoughtful, not boring.

Resale on Ferretti in this size range has been stable because there’s consistent demand from buyers moving up from smaller boats. The brand has strong dealer support in Florida, the Mediterranean, and Asia, which matters when you need parts or service. Operating costs are high but predictable—budget $600,000 annually if you’re running it yourself, closer to $800,000 with crew. The 860 is not the cheapest boat to own in this segment, but it’s one of the most reliable. If you’re planning to keep it for five to seven years and you’re going to use it hard, the Ferretti will hold its value better than most alternatives.
