The 580 represents a mature approach to the 60-foot flybridge segment. Ferretti moved the engines aft with V-drives, which is the right call for noise reduction and interior volume. The build quality is consistent with what we’ve seen from the Cattolica yard over the past decade. The optional 1,000-horsepower Volvo package is worth the upcharge if you’re doing any serious offshore work. At 32 knots, this boat moves, and the hull handles following seas better than some of the lighter composite builds in this range.

This boat is for the experienced owner who wants to step up from a 50-footer without stepping into crew obligations. It’s also a solid choice for the semi-retired professional who plans to run the boat themselves most of the time but wants the option to bring in a captain for longer trips. It’s not for the buyer who needs four staterooms or wants to live aboard. The 580 is a weekend cruiser with serious capability, not a floating condo.

Resale on Ferretti models has been stable, and the brand has decent support in South Florida. Maintenance costs will run 8 to 12 percent annually depending on usage, which is in line with other European builds. Volvo engines are well-supported, and parts availability is good. If you’re keeping the boat in South Florida and using it for Bahamas runs, this is a solid choice. If you’re planning to cruise the Chesapeake or the Pacific Northwest, look at something with more range and a different hull design.
