The Ferretti 500 represents solid engineering from a builder that understands how to construct a 50-foot yacht. The hull is proven, the Cummins power is reliable, and the systems integration is straightforward enough for an owner-operator to manage without constant technician support. Ferretti didn’t overcomplicate the boat, which is the right decision at this size. The build quality is consistent with what you’d expect from the Ferretti Group—good gelcoat work, proper through-hull installations, and attention to detail in the engine room. It’s not groundbreaking, but it’s competent.

This boat is for the buyer who wants to drive their own yacht and has the experience to do it properly. If you’re coming from express cruisers in the 40-foot range and you understand marine systems, the 500 is a logical step up. If you’re new to boats or you’re planning to hire crew, look at the Ferretti 580 or 670 instead. The 500 rewards hands-on ownership but punishes inexperience. It’s also the right boat for someone downsizing from a 60-footer who wants to simplify operations without giving up Italian design.

The resale market for 50-foot Ferrettis is stable but not exceptional. You’ll find buyers in South Florida, the Mediterranean, and among European clients who prioritize the brand. Maintenance costs are in line with other Italian builds—higher than Taiwanese production boats, lower than custom builds. Budget $15,000 to $20,000 annually for routine service if you’re doing 100 hours per year. The Cummins engines are bulletproof if you maintain them properly, which means the major expense will be systems and cosmetics as the boat ages.
