The Riva 102' Corsaro Super: When 99 Feet Feels Like a Private Island

You're 40 miles offshore. The crew is below. Your guests are on the flybridge with cocktails. You're at the helm, running 24 knots into a light chop, and the twin MTUs are barely audible. The sun deck is empty because everyone is aft, down at the water. This is not a yacht that announces itself. It's a yacht that disappears into the weekend.

The Riva 102' Corsaro Super is the second generation of a model that already worked. Riva didn't reinvent it. They refined it. The hull is proven. The layout is smarter. The beach club is bigger. And the profile is lower and longer, which means it looks faster sitting still than most boats do at full throttle.

This is a flybridge yacht for people who don't want to feel like they're on a flybridge yacht.

Who It's For

This boat is for the owner who wants to run it themselves on Thursday and hand it to the crew on Saturday. It's for the entrepreneur who treats the boat like a second office, not a showpiece. It's for the family that spends August in the Bahamas and doesn't want to feel cramped by day three.

The 102' Corsaro Super is not a superyacht in the traditional sense, whatever the name suggests. Riva's own table puts it at 99'3" — 30.24 metres — so it sits at the top of the size class rather than the bottom of the next one, and it is laid out to be used rather than staffed.

The ideal owner is someone who values utility over spectacle. Someone who would rather have a bigger swim platform than a bigger tender garage. Someone who understands that the best yacht is the one you actually use.

Design & Layout: Built Around the Water

The layout starts at the stern and works forward. The beach club sits low to the water with side access to the cockpit on both sides. You can launch a tender, set up dive gear, or just sit with your feet in the water while the boat is at anchor.

The cockpit flows directly into the main salon with no step, no threshold, no visual break. When the aft doors are open, the entire main deck becomes one continuous space. The galley is forward on the main deck, which means the crew can prep and serve without cutting through guest areas.

The owner's suite is on the main deck, full-beam, with floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides. It's not hidden below. It's not tucked into the bow. It's in the best real estate on the boat, and it feels like a hotel suite that happens to float.

Below deck there are four more guest cabins, all with en-suite heads — five in total, and six bathrooms including the crew's two. The crew quarters are separate, with three cabins of their own.

The flybridge is open, uncluttered, and designed for actual use. There's a full helm station, a dining table for eight, a wet bar, and a sun pad that seats six. It's not trying to be a nightclub. It's trying to be the place you spend every evening underway.

Performance: Freedom, Not Just Speed

The standard engine package is twin MTU 16V 2000 M96 diesels, each producing 2,435 horsepower. That gives you a top speed of 26 knots and a 23-knot cruise, and Riva puts the range at that cruise at 310 nautical miles.

The upgraded engine option is the MTU 16V 2000 M96L, which bumps power to 2,638 horsepower per side, top speed to 28 knots and cruise to 24. Range at cruise falls to 300 nautical miles. The difference is noticeable but not transformative: an hour off a long passage, ten miles off the tank.

The hull is a deep-V planing design, which means it's stable at speed and comfortable in a seaway. It's not a go-fast boat. It's a go-far boat that happens to be fast when you need it to be.

Fuel capacity is 2,378 gallons, which is enough for a week of cruising without refueling if you're disciplined. Water capacity is 349 gallons, which is tight for ten guests but manageable with a watermaker.

The boat handles like something 20 feet shorter. The bow thruster is strong enough to dock single-handed in a crosswind. The visibility from the helm is excellent. The turning radius is tight. This is a boat you can run yourself, which is the point.

Ownership: The Honest Conversation

The 102' Corsaro Super sits in the middle of a decision every buyer in this size range has to make: crew or no crew. You can run this boat with a captain and one deckhand. You can also run it yourself if you have the experience and the time.

The operating cost with a two-person crew is roughly $400,000 to $500,000 per year, including salaries, insurance, maintenance, dockage, and fuel for moderate use. That assumes you're keeping the boat in South Florida and using it 60 to 80 days a year.

If you're running it owner-operated, you can cut that number in half, but you're also taking on the responsibility of maintenance, provisioning, and logistics. Most owners in this class start owner-operated and add crew as the boat becomes a bigger part of their life.

Resale on Riva flybridge models is strong, particularly in Europe. The 102' Corsaro Super is new enough that there isn't a deep resale market yet, but the original 100' Corsaro held value better than most Italian builders in the 30-meter range. Expect 60 to 70 percent of purchase price after five years if the boat is well-maintained and lightly used.

Maintenance is straightforward. The MTU engines are bulletproof if you follow the service intervals. The hull is fiberglass with carbon-fiber elements, which means no exotic repair costs. The systems are Riva-standard, which means parts availability is good and most yards in the U.S. and Mediterranean can handle routine work.

Where to Start

The Riva 102' Corsaro Super is not the loudest boat in its class. It's not the fastest. It's not the one with the most toys. It's the one that works. It's the one you'll actually use. It's the one that feels like a private island, not a floating hotel.

If you're serious about spending time on the water, not just owning a boat, this is where the conversation starts.
