Who It's For
The 7X is for the owner who measures a boat by what it does to a weekend. A 42-knot cruise turns the anchorage you would have written off into a Friday-night arrival, and the crossing you would have watched go by into one you take.
Pershing's standard arrangement is three cabins and three heads plus a crew cabin with its own bathroom, and the yard rates the hull for sixteen people aboard. That crew berth is the hinge of the proposition: run the boat yourself on the day trips, hand it over for the long legs with guests still aboard.
The Boat
The hull is carbon fibre and measures 69'3" overall on a 17'7" maximum beam, drawing 5'0". Unladen it weighs 77,162 lbs, 92,594 lbs laden. Fuel is 951 gallons, water 211.
Performance
Twin MAN V12 1800s, 1,800 mhp each, drive surface propellers to the published 50-knot maximum and a 42-knot cruise, with 300 nautical miles of range at that cruise.
Read the range against the speed it is quoted at: 300 miles at 42 knots is about seven hours of running, quoted at the fast cruise rather than a slow one. Before you sign, take observed burn at your intended cruise in writing at the sea trial, and have the surface drives' service schedule set out with the build specification.
Where It Sits in the Range
Below it, the 6X gives up two knots of published top end at 62 feet with the same three-cabins-plus-crew sleeping plan. Above it, the 8X adds a fourth cabin, a second crew cabin and fourteen feet of boat for two knots of top end. The 7X is where the line's speed peaks, and that is the reason to buy it.
