The 47 Molokai is the boat the Molokai line was building toward, and what separates it is that you can sleep aboard without apologising for the arrangement. The cabin under the console carries a queen-sized island berth, a wet head with shower and hot and cold water, 12,000 BTU of air conditioning, and blinds on the side and overhead glass. That is a genuine overnight space inside a center console catamaran, and it is the reason this boat exists rather than a longer 36.
The rest of it is a fishing platform built at a serious scale. Aquila publishes 1,048 gallons of fuel on a 48-foot hull, a 510-gallon mid-deck fishbox with a 100-gallon aft-deck box behind it, and a 90-gallon transom livewell pair, with hull-side boarding and dive doors port and starboard and seating certified for up to seventeen. Carbon fiber runs through the forward and aft main structural bulkheads and the hardtop, which is where the weight saving goes.
Settle the rig before anything else, because Aquila offers three and they are three different boats to own. Twin Mercury V12 600s, quad V10 400s, or quad V10 425s, with 400R and 500R packages on request — the specifications on this page describe the twin-600 installation. Aquila publishes no top or cruise speed on any of those packages, so every performance figure you are shown for this model came from someone else measuring a rig that may not be the one you are buying. Get observed numbers at your intended cruise from your own sea trial, in writing, on the package you have ordered. And remember that four outboards are four service schedules as well as four engines.
