Sanlorenzo SP92 Review: The 38-Knot Sports Yacht That Doesn't Apologize
A 92-footer that runs 350 miles at 35 knots, sleeps eight in four cabins, and hides the tender below deck. Italian engineering for the owner who wants speed without the usual compromises.

“
The SP92 is Sanlorenzo’s answer to the Pershing 9X and Azimut Grande 32M, but it takes a different approach. Where those boats prioritize maximum speed and aggressive styling, the SP92 focuses on usable performance and thoughtful layout. The waterjet propulsion is the key differentiator—it reduces draft, improves efficiency, and eliminates the maintenance headaches of traditional shafts and props. The composite construction keeps weight down, which is how Sanlorenzo achieves 38 knots with 2,000 hp instead of needing 3,000. It’s smart engineering, not brute force.
This boat is for the owner who has already been through the sportscruiser phase and knows what actually matters. If you want to run hard on weekends, cover real distance, and still have space for family or guests, the SP92 delivers. If you’re buying your first performance yacht and want the loudest, fastest option on the dock, look elsewhere. The SP92 is understated by design, and that’s either exactly what you want or a dealbreaker. There’s no middle ground.
Resale will depend on how the SP line matures over the next five years. Sanlorenzo has strong brand equity in the U.S., but the sports yacht segment is crowded and buyers are selective. Keep service records current, avoid over-customization, and plan to hold the boat for at least five years to avoid taking a hit on depreciation. The good news is that Sanlorenzo’s build quality and the SP92’s practical design should help it hold value better than flashier competitors that age poorly.”
