“
The SD90 is the most honest yacht Sanlorenzo builds. It’s not trying to be the fastest or the flashiest. It’s engineered for the owner who wants to cover distance without constantly thinking about the next fuel dock. The semi-displacement hull is the right call here—it gives you the range and the ride quality that a planing hull can’t match at this size. The build quality is typical Sanlorenzo, which means it’s a step above most Italian yards in fit and finish. The systems are logical, the engineering is conservative, and the boat will hold up better over 10 years than most of its competitors.
This boat is for the experienced owner who values capability over cocktail-party conversation. If you want to run the Bahamas for a month, the SD90 works. If you want to impress at the Palm Beach boat show, buy something else. The layout is smart—four real cabins, a proper owner’s suite, and enough crew space to run with two or four depending on how you use the boat. It’s flexible in a way that most yachts in this class are not, and that flexibility is what makes it a better long-term hold.
The resale reality is straightforward. Sanlorenzo holds value better than Azimut or Ferretti because the build quality is higher and the buyer pool is more stable. The SD range is less common than the SL flybridge line, which means you’re not competing with 50 other listings when you go to sell. Maintenance costs are predictable—MAN engines are bulletproof, and the systems are standard enough that any competent yard can service them. This is a yacht you can own for 10 years without regretting the decision, and that’s rare in this market..”
