The 8X is the most honest performance yacht Pershing has built in the past decade. The carbon-fiber hull is stiff, the surface drives are properly matched to the power, and the build quality reflects Ferretti Group’s investment in the Pershing brand over the past five years. The optional M96L engine package is worth the upcharge if you’re serious about speed. The standard M96 setup is adequate, but the extra 200 horsepower per side makes a measurable difference in acceleration and top-end performance. The systems integration is clean, the helm layout is intuitive, and the boat handles predictably at speed. No surprises, no compromises.

This boat is for the owner who already knows they want a Pershing and is choosing between the 8X and the 9X. If you’re cross-shopping against Azimut, Sunseeker, or Princess, you’re not the buyer. The 8X is narrower in focus than those platforms. It prioritizes speed and performance over interior volume and onboard amenities. If you want a floating condo with a flybridge, buy something else. If you want to run 40 knots in the open ocean and arrive before everyone else, the 8X is the right tool.

Resale on the 8X is strong in the U.S. and Mediterranean markets, but you need to maintain the boat properly. Surface drives require more frequent service than traditional shafts, and deferred maintenance shows up immediately in sea trials. Budget $120,000 to $150,000 annually for maintenance if you’re running the boat 100 to 150 hours per year. Fuel costs are high, crew costs are real, and insurance underwriters will ask about your experience. This is not a boat you buy casually. But if you’re the right owner, the 8X delivers exactly what it promises.
