“
The 380 Outrage represents Boston Whaler’s understanding that the offshore market has split into two camps: tournament fishermen who want nothing but cockpit, and owner-operators who need one boat to do everything. This is the latter. The Unibond construction is proven, the 23-degree deadrise delivers a ride that justifies the weight penalty, and the engine options let you choose between efficiency and bragging rights. The quad 400 setup is impressive but thirsty. The twin 600s make more sense for most buyers.
This boat is for the guy who runs his own vessel, fishes 30 to 50 days a year, and wants his family to actually enjoy being on the water. It’s not for the tournament circuit where every inch of cockpit space matters. It’s not for the casual bay boater who will never see blue water. The 380 sits in the middle, and that’s exactly where a large segment of the market lives. If you’re comparing this to a Grady-White Canyon 376 or a Pursuit S 408, you’re in the right conversation.
Resale on the 380 holds better than most boats in this class because Whaler has brand equity and this model has been in production long enough to prove itself. Maintenance costs are predictable if you stay on top of the Mercury service intervals and don’t ignore the small stuff. The gyro stabilizer is a $50,000 decision that adds complexity. If you’re anchoring overnight regularly, it’s worth it. If you’re running and gunning, save the money and put it toward fuel.”
