Aquila 46 Coupe Review: 44 Knots, Two Cabins, Zero Crew Required
Fast catamaran performance meets owner-operator simplicity. The 46 Coupe delivers Bahamas range, enclosed-cockpit versatility, and a layout built for how you actually cruise—not how brochures say you should.

The 46 Coupe is Aquila’s answer to the question nobody was asking out loud but everyone was thinking: can you build a 47-foot catamaran that runs 44 knots, sleeps four comfortably, and doesn’t require a crew or a systems engineer on speed dial. The Hydro Glide Foil works as advertised. The double-stepped hull is proven. The build quality is consistent with what we’ve seen from Aquila over the past five years, which is to say it’s good production work with attention to the details that matter—hull laminate schedule, through-hull placement, and electrical routing. This is not a custom build, but it’s also not a boat that’s going to surprise you with delamination or poorly thought-out systems integration three years in.
This boat is for the experienced boater who knows what they don’t need. If you’re coming from a 42-foot center console or a 38-foot express and you want more range, more comfort, and less fuel burn, the 46 Coupe makes sense. If you’re moving down from a 55-foot flybridge and you want something you can run yourself without calling the captain every time you leave the dock, this works. It’s not for the buyer who needs four staterooms or the one who wants to live aboard for months at a time. It’s a weekender with serious legs, and it knows exactly what it is.
Resale on Aquila has been strong, particularly in Florida and the Bahamas where the brand has dealer support and a growing owner base. The 46 Coupe is new, so we don’t have three-year data yet, but the 42 Coupe and 46 Yacht have both held value better than expected. Maintenance costs are predictable if you stay on top of the service intervals. The outboard configuration is easier to manage for most owners. The inboard option makes sense if you’re planning longer trips or you want quieter operation at anchor. Either way, you’re looking at a boat that’s designed to be used hard and put away clean, which is exactly what the South Florida market rewards.”
